At the moment, against the backdrop of the active development of the Internet of Things in the world, industrial designers and, naturally, engineers are being forced to design the object “inside the network” from the very beginning. That is, to include in the product such functions as, for example, a mobile connection to wireless data transmission or determining your own location in global navigation systems (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou), and also to integrate new energy solutions in order to autonomy of the devices produced.

 Focus on environmental friendliness and safety of the designed products. At the moment, in view of the existing environmental problems on the planet, designers (and manufacturers) are focused on using materials that ensure maximum environmental friendliness of manufactured products (for example, biopolymers or natural materials). Also, increased requirements are imposed directly on production. It is important to note that currently such a direction as the examination of the influence of design decisions on the environment is actively developing. Leading world design companies without fail resort to such a procedure.

 Transformation of industrial design from service to a key business strategy of the manufacturer. At the moment, many manufacturers have begun to put industrial design at the heart of their growth strategy. In modern design-centered companies, a clear model has been developed and implemented for integrating industrial design with other corporate functions, such as research, marketing and technological operations. At the same time, the investment policy of such companies differs, as a rule, by an increase in investment in design, which can be expressed in an increase in the number of creative employees, infrastructure growth and larger-scale projects.
